A Community Advancing Science
About Us
THE WOMEN IN CHEMISTRY PROGRAM was established, with support from the Provost’s Office, the Dean’s Office in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and the Department of Chemistry at the University of Illinois (see a Note from the Head), to address issues of recruitment, retention and advancement of women in the sciences. The goal of the Women in Chemistry (WIC) programs is to advocate for and foster the educational and professional success of women at all levels in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Illinois. Some of the objectives of the WIC program are:
- Promoting professional development through seminars and workshops
- Supporting and coordinating efforts with the American Chemical Society East Central Illinois Women Chemists Committee (ECI-WCC).
- Providing networking opportunities with other scientists and engineers at the university and with UIUC alumni
- Offering individual support through advising
