Katzenellenbogen Wins 2007 Hershberg Award

Professor John A. Katzenellenbogen of the Department of Chemistry at the University of Illinois was recently awarded the 2007 American Chemical Society E. B. Hershberg Award for Important Discoveries in Medicinally Active Products.
This award, which is given every other year, was established in 1988 by Schering-Plough Research Institute to honor the contributions of Emanuel B. Hershberg to the pharmaceutical industry, especially the application of organic chemistry to the discovery and development of novel drugs. The award is presented: "to recognize and encourage outstanding discoveries in the chemistry of medicinally active substances…[that] have been made during the last two decades".
