The Bomem-Michelson award is dedicated to the memory of Professor A. E. Michelson, developer of the Michelson interferometer. The award is given annually at PITTCON® and is sponsored by Bomem, Inc. to honor scientists who have advanced the technique(s) of vibrational, molecular, Raman, or electronic spectroscopy. The award will be presented at a symposium at PITTCON® 2005 to be held at the Orange County Convention Center, in Orlando, Florida.

This is the second time Professor Bohn has received an award from the Coblentz Society. In 1990 he was awarded the Coblentz Award, given each year for outstanding contributions to the field of molecular spectroscopy by a scientist under the age of 36. He has also been recognized with the ACS Spectrochemical Analysis Award, and the Spectroscopy Society of Pittsburgh Award. It is noteworthy that Paul has achieved this level of distinction and productivity in addition to bearing serious administrative responsibilities at the departmental, school, and university levels. Paul is well known for leveraging his scholarship, as manifested in his leadership on the new NSF STC and other multi-PI projects across campus.
