Professor Ryan C. Bailey of the Department of Chemistry at the University of Illinois was recently awarded the 2006 Camille and Henry Dreyfus New Faculty Award. There were only 12 Dreyfus awards given in the U.S. in all areas of biochemistry, chemistry, and chemical engineering. The awards are based on evidence that the nominee has the potential to produce an independent body of scientific scholarship of outstanding quality and will make significant contributions to overall education in the chemical sciences. Nominations are reviewed by distinguished faculty in the field of chemistry.
