James Douglas McCullough Jr. of Houston, Texas passed away February 28, 2012 in a Houston hospital.

He was born November 28, 1938 in Long Beach, California. He earned his B.S. from UCLA, M.S. from San Diego State College and PhD in Organic Chemistry from the University of Illinois. Honors and awards he earned included Phi Lambda Upsilon Honorary Chemical Society and American Men and Women of Science among numerous other awards and achievements in chemistry and his field.

He was a research chemist for Shell Development, Union Carbide and Dow Chemical and was best known for U. S. and foreign patents in the field of polymer science. James' hobbies were fly fishing and investing.
