The Physical Division of the American Chemical Society has awarded The Richard Van Duyne Early Career Award in Experimental Physical Chemistry to Professor Josh Vura-Weis.

A professor whose research intersects the areas of inorganic, materials and physical chemistry, Vura-Weis received this 2023 early career award "for development of the experimental and theoretical foundation of tabletop femtosecond extreme ultraviolet spectroscopy of photocatalysis.” His research group uses advanced laser techniques to study the excited-state electronic and vibrational dynamics of inorganic and organometallic systems.

Vura-Weis joined the Illinois chemistry faculty in 2013. He is an affiliate professor with the Materials Research Laboratory at Illinois and also serves as the Associate Head of Major Projects in the Department of Chemistry.
