Dr. Jack Leland Riudavets Williams Ph.D. of Namao, Alberta died February 27th at the age of 89 years at the Youville Home in St Albert, Alberta.

Dr. Williams was born in Edmonton on October 25, 1923 to cattle commission agent Leland "Lee" Stanford Williams (Principal of Weiller & Williams Co. Ltd.) and Marion Letitia Williams nee Peacock. He graduated, Honours Chemistry, University of Alberta 1946, a Ph.D. at the University of Illinois in organic chemistry in 1948 and a DuPont PhD Fellow at the University of Wisconsin in 1949. His professional career was spent at the Eastman Kodak Research Laboratories, Chemical Division in Rochester, NY achieving Senior Division Head. He traveled worldwide for Chemical Conferences and while at Kodak had a lecture series named after him and a colleague, named The Weissberger and Williams Lectures.

He is survived by his life partner Leona Pritchard, her two children, Chantelle Volorney Smearer of Fort Saskatchewan and Ben Volorney of Edmonton. His wife Helen Q Williams of Pittsford, NY, sons, Leland Williams of Rochester, NY, Mark Williams of New York, NY, Jack Williams Jr. of Glen Allen, VA, daughters, Julie Meder of Pittsburgh, PA and Janet Barbaccia of Pittsford, NY and fourteen grandchildren.
