The University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign has selected three outstanding young scientists to attend the 6th annual World Laureates Association (WLA) Forum in Shanghai, China on November 6-8, 2023.

Prashant Jain is one of the three scientists selected to represent UIUC at this annual world event. Jain is G. L. Clark Professor of Physical Chemistry, Professor of Chemistry, and a University Scholar. Jain directs a research laboratory on nanoscale light-matter interactions at UIUC, where he is also a professor in the Materials Research Lab, and the Beckman Institute and an affiliate faculty member of Physics and Illinois Quantum Information Science and Engineering (IQUIST).

Initiated in 2018, the WLA Forum has become a highly influential global platform that promotes basic science research, international cooperation, and youth development. In its sixth year, the event is poised to be a benchmark of scientific exchange. With a luminary-studded lineup, the Forum is dedicated to gathering top scientists from all disciplines, nationalities, and generations around the world to delve into the latest advances in frontier science, exchange insights and collaborate on building a better world.

The WLA Forum provides a stage for young scientists to:

  • Attend the WLA Young Scientists Forum - Plenary Session.
  • Communicate with science masters (including Nobel Laureates) freely on various occasions.
  • Participate in a discussion panel to exchange profound thoughts with laureates.
  • Fully demonstrate their academic achievements, talents, and innovative ideas by having workshops or poster displays.
