    New antibiotic kills pathogenic bacteria, spares healthy gut microbes
    2024-05-29 - A research team led by chemistry Prof. Paul Hergenrother and former PhD student Kristen Muñoz (PhD, '23) has developed a new antibiotic that reduced or eliminated drug-resistant bacterial infections in mouse models of acute pneumonia and sepsis while sparing healthy microbes in the mouse gut.

    2024-04-10 - In a collaboration between the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and Rice University, a team of researchers has combined mathematical tools from black hole physics and chemical physics and demonstrated that quantum information scrambling takes place in chemical reactions and can nearly reach the same quantum mechanical limit as it does in black holes.
