Undergraduate Aid and Support

Departmental Scholarships

All chemistry majors are eligible to apply for a Department of Chemistry Scholarship. More than 20 scholarships are available, with most in the $3000 range and a few in the $5000 - $10,000 range. Students only need to submit ONE application to be considered for ALL scholarships. Some awards are merit-based, while others are need-based. The Scholarship Committee and the Chemistry Business Office will determine which scholarships applicants qualify for.

These scholarships are generously donated by our alumni and outside sponsors. Please note that our donors have stipulated that these scholarships must be awarded to students enrolled as chemistry majors during the academic year following the award. If you are transferring to a different major during the upcoming summer or upcoming academic year, you will not be eligible to receive an award.

The application form for a Department of Chemistry Scholarship opens the first week of March and closes the week students return from spring break. An announcement email will be sent to all chemistry majors detailing the specific dates of the application period. Awardees will be notified by the end of July if they have received an award.

When the application cycle is open, students can access the application form at this link: go.chemistry.illinois.edu/ChemScholarships

Please email Dr. Jordan Axelson (axelson2@illinois.edu) if you have any questions.
