Joseph P. Gerdt, an undergraduate researcher with Scott Silverman, was awarded a $1,000 Sigma Xi Grants-in-Aid of Research. Sigma Xi is an international honor society of science and engineering research.

J. P. is studying the application of double-stranded DNA as a structural constraint for nanotechnology.  His project focuses on the use of DNA to stabilize or destabilize conformations of RNA molecules.
