Three Murphy Lab Students and Professor Murphy Publish a Nano Letters Article on "Nanovacuums" Research

Date
04/19/13

Students Jie An Yang, Hoa Tri Phan, Shruti Vaidya and Professor Catherine Murphy describe in a Nano Letters article their finding that cells can "vacuum" up gold nanoparticles. This finding provided critical insight into these nanoparticles that were shown to slow cancer cell migration but not impact the migration of normal cells.

Professor Murphy lauded her co-authors for their work on this project. Jie An Yang is a fourth-year graduate student and the recipient of the 2013 Dissertation Award in Materials Research. Hoa Tri Phan is an undergraduate exchange student from Vietnam, and Shruti Vaidya is a high school student who performed research through the I-STEM program.
