Outgoing Director of the National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA) and Distinguished Chair for Research Excellence in Chemistry Thom Dunning Jr. was recently highlighted in Chemistry World for his research in sulfur chemistry. The UI News Bureau says, " Calculations on unusual bonding in the sulfur difluoride dimer FSSF3 have provided evidence to help explain why some compounds don’t follow long-established chemical rules, according to researchers at Illinois, including Thom Dunning."
