Prashant K. Jain is one of seven recipients of the Beckman Young Investigator Award from the Arnold and Mabel Beckman Foundation. This highly competitive award of $750,000 over four years is "intended to provide research support to the most promising young faculty members in the early stages of academic careers in the chemical and life sciences, particularly to foster the invention of methods, instruments, and materials that will open up new avenues of research in science." Professor Jain received the award for his work on nanoscale imaging of catalysts in action. The foundation will present the award during the annual Beckman Symposium, Aug. 7-9 in Irvine, California.

Dr. Jain joined the University of Illinois faculty in 2011. Subsequently, he has been the recipient of numerous other awards including a Alfred P. Sloan Fellowship, a Golden Jubilee Visiting Fellowship, a National Academy of EngineeringE21 Innovator, a DuPont Young Professor Award, a Unilever Award for Outstanding Young Investigator, MIT Technology Review TR35, plus other.
