Will Bassett wins the 2018 Gordon Research Conference Jamieson Award

Date
07/25/18

The J. C. Jamieson award is given for outstanding achievement in the field of high pressure research. This year's award is unusual in that there was a tie and it is being awarded jointly to Will Bassett and Dominique Laniel. Bassett will be presenting his research on "shock compression microscope" and temperature measurements of energetic materials at this years' GR Conference. He will continue with his postdoctoral research, which is being funded by Livermore Labs, in Professor Dana Dlott's lab. The John C. Jamieson Memorial Fund, which supports this award, was established by former students and colleagues of Dr. Jamieson, who was a Professor of geophysics whose main research used static high pressure.
