Grad Student Joe Nugent wins TechnipFMC Fellowship

The TechnipFMC fund was originally created by Bert A. Gayman, a University of Illinois mechanical engineering graduate, and later acquired by FMC Corporation. Upon their merger, they became TechnipFMC which is a global leader in subsea, onshore/offshore and surface projects. The fund supports scholarships, fellowships and research.


Joe Nugent, whose research focusing on dehydrogenation chemistry using cobalt pincer complexes, was selected to receive a TechnipFMC Fellowship for 2019-20. Nugent, a fourth year graduate student in the Fout Group, studies organometallic chemistry and would like to obtain a job in either the chemical industry or in technical consulting after receiving his PhD.
