The Materials Research Society has announced that Professor Catherine Murphy is one of this years' MRS Medal winners

The medal acknowledges an outstanding accomplishment over the previous ten years in materials research. It will be awarded for a major advance or a group of closely related advances in any materials-related field of research. MRS acknowledges the generosity of Dr. Gwo-Ching Wang and Dr. Toh-Ming Lu in endowing the MRS Medal.

Professor Catherine Murphy, along with Dr. Haimei Zheng, Lawrence Berkely National Laboratory, are this years' joint MRS Medal winners. The award will be presented at the 2019 MRS Fall Meeting, during the Awards Ceremony, on December 4, 2019. Both recipients will give brief talks at the Fall Meeting. Murphy is receiving the Medal “for pioneering the controlled synthesis of anisotropic metal nanostructures in transition metal nanoparticles and investigation of nanoparticle effects on and toxicity in biological systems.”
