Department of Chemistry Faculty Spotlight: COVID-19

The Department of Chemistry hosted a public virtual event on May 29, 2020, featuring faculty members Martin Burke and Yi Lu, who gave presentations about their COVID-19 projects. In his presentation, Lu explains his research that involves developing a new widely-deployable method to more efficiently detect COVID-19, and Burke describes the work behind the SHIELD initiative on campus, including COVID-19 saliva-based testing of students, faculty and staff plus frontier modeling and contact tracing efforts through a digital app.
