Three graduate students, Kai Gui, Yiwei Liu and Amanda Smith, each received Chemistry Teaching Excellence Fellowships from the Department of Chemistry for 2020.

In addition, faculty member Nancy Makri and three additional graduate students were recognized for their teaching by the School of Chemical Sciences annual Excellence in Teaching awards for the 2019-2020 academic year.

Makri, a Chemistry at Illinois faculty member since 1992, was honored by SCS in addition to graduate student instructors Ericka Bruske, Brenna Budaitis and Paul Griffin.

The Excellence in Teaching awards are given annually by SCS. The awards recognize the entire scope of educational efforts, from course development to in-class instruction. Excellence in teaching is not only intellectually satisfying, but instructional efforts immeasurably strengthen the research mission of the Department of Chemistry.
