Career Seminar features senior managing engineer at Exponent

Meredith Sellers (PhD, '11, Seebauer), a UIUC Chemical Engineering alum and technical consultant for the engineering and scientific consulting firm, Exponent, will share her career experiences in the 2021 "Careers in Chemistry Seminar Series" organized by the Department of Chemistry Graduate Student Advisory Committee (DCGSAC). 

This virtual event on Friday, July 9, at 12-1 p.m. is open to all Department of Chemistry graduate students and postdocs. You must register in advance to receive the Zoom meeting link.

The DCGSAC Career Seminar Series is held annually and dedicated to providing graduate students and post-doctoral associates with information on a variety of career choices. This year, the series features four speakers from assorted industrial or academic positions. Sellers' presentation, “The Path Less Traveled: Scientific and Engineering Consulting,” is the second event in the series. 

After obtaining her PhD in chemical engineering at UIUC in 2011, Sellers entered the field of technical consulting. She is currently a Senior Managing Engineer in the Materials and Corrosion Engineering Practice at Exponent. As a Licensed Professional Chemical Engineer, she helps clients evaluate and investigate failures associated with material properties, processing, and performance. Sellers has significant experience assisting clients in the oil and natural gas and aerospace industries engaged in domestic and global legal disputes. She holds a BS in chemical engineering from Cornell University (2005) in addition to her PhD in chemical engineering. Sellers is a long-standing member of the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) and the Association for Women in Science (AWIS).
