Wilfred A. van der Donk has won the 2025 Alfred Bader Award in Bioorganic or Bioinorganic Chemistry, a national award administered by the American Chemical Society.

His research focuses on the discovery and design of new antibiotics and natural products, focusing on projects that combine synthetic organic and protein chemistry to address problems at the interface of chemistry and biology. Professor van der Donk, Richard E. Heckert Endowed Chair in Chemistry, and Howard Hughes Medical Institute Investigator, will be honored at an award ceremony on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, in conjunction with the ACS Spring 2025 meeting in San Diego.

The ACS announced the 2025 national award winners on Aug. 27, 2024. The ACS National Awards encourage the advancement of chemistry in all its branches, support research endeavors, and promote the careers of chemists.
