Two senior undergraduates who conducted research in the Department of Chemistry have been selected to receive the American Chemical Society Division of Organic Chemistry (ACS DOC) Undergraduate Award for 2026.
The ACS DOC awards recognize senior students who display a significant aptitude for organic chemistry and are top graduating senior students majoring in either chemistry or biochemistry and have demonstrated excellence in organic chemistry based on a combination of research experience, coursework and a desire to pursue a career in chemistry.

Ayushi Chakraborty
Chakraborty, a senior biochemistry major who graduated in May 2026, was an undergraduate researcher in the lab of chemistry professor Joomyung (Vicky) June.
Shangheng Zhong
Zhong, a senior chemistry major who graduated in May 2026, was an undergraduate researcher in the lab of chemistry professor Scott Denmark.
