Two faculty members in the Department of Chemistry have been selected to receive 2027 National Awards administered by the American Chemical Society.
- Martin D. Burke, May and Ving Lee Professor for Chemical Innovation, and Professor of Chemistry, has been awarded the ACS Award for Creative Work in Synthetic Organic Chemistry, sponsored by Organic Syntheses. The award recognizes and encourages creative work in synthetic organic chemistry.
- Scott E. Denmark, Reynold C. Fuson Professor of Chemistry, has been awarded the Roger Adams Award in Organic Chemistry, sponsored by Organic Reactions and Organic Syntheses. The award recognizes and encourages outstanding contributions to research in organic chemistry.
The 2027 national awards were announced Monday, Aug. 31, 2026, in C&EN. The national award recipients will be honored at an awards ceremony on Tuesday, March 23, 2027, in conjunction with the ACS Spring 2027 meeting in New Orleans.
