The Department of Chemistry is welcoming new faculty members ahead of the upcoming 2026-27 academic year that begins August 24. Two tenure-track faculty members, Megan A. Steves and Liwei Zheng, have arrived on campus and will be teaching in the fall semester while also working to launch their research labs. Teaching faculty member Noah Haskin has also arrived on campus and will be teaching in the fall semester.

New Illinois chemistry faculty member Megan A. Steves comes to campus from the University of California - Berkeley where she was an Arnold O. Beckman Postdoctoral Scholar.

New Illinois chemistry faculty member Liwei Zheng comes to campus from Stanford University where he worked on next-generation protein sequencing as a postdoctoral fellow.

Illinois chemistry alumnus Noah Haskin (M.S., ’22) returns to Illinois after launching his chemistry teaching career at his undergraduate alma mater, Illinois Wesleyan University.
